Rebel Weapons
This file contains all of the information on the Rebel weapons. You will not tell anyone of its existance or of what it contains. If you do so you will be promptly and painfully executed. Everything in here is completely true and you should use caution when coming up against any of these weapons.
Alliance Equipment
X-Wing Starfighter
Incom Corporation's T-65 X-wing is a small, single-pilot starfighter that measures 12.5 meters from nose to engine block. Those who fly them somtimes refer to X-wings as snub fighters. With powerful sublight ion engines, a targeting computer, defensive shields, four wing-tipped laser cannons, and a limited supply of proton torpedoes, the X-wing is fast, highly maneuvarble, and extremely well armed. These starfighters are also equipped withe hyperspacedrives for light speed travel. A recessed socket, situated on the outer hull behind the cockpit, is designed an an interface for an R2 astromech droid. An R2 unit assists the starfighter's pilot by monitoring onboard systems, performing routine and emergency maintenence, and even flying the craft when circumstances permit. Astromechs also augment the craft's computer capabilities, assist with astrgation, and hold preset hyperspace jump coordinates. The X-wing's double-layered wings split open into an X shape for atmospheric travel and when the starfighter shifts into attack position.
Y-Wing Starfighter
The twin-engine, sixteen-meter-long Y-wing starfighter is an old model still used by the Alliance. It has room for two crew members: one serves as the ship's pilot while the other handles the ship's offensive and defensive systems. This hyperdrive-equipped starfighter is armed with two forward-mounted laser cannons, a rear-mounted twin ion cannon, a limited number of proton torpedoes, and a droidinterface socket. It has combat-rated deflector shields, and its rugged construction allows it to take a considerable amount of damage before its systems fail.
A-Wing Starfighter
The A-wing, a lightweight, wedge-shaped military starfighter, made its first appearence in the galactic civil war on the side of the Alliance. Designed for high speed and maneuverability, the A-wing carries two wing-mounted, pivoting blaster cannons, a sophisticated targeting computer and sensor array, and light combat shields. Built for ship-to-ship combat and to serve as escort craft for larger starships, it was the Alliances answer to the Empire's newer Tie fighter models. Two extra-large real-space power plants and low total mass make this the fastest combat starfighter in either arsenal, beating out even the Tie interceptor for pure speed in normal space.
B-Wing Starfighter
The uniquely shaped B-wing fighter adds four power plants and a command pod to a primary airfoil to create one of the most heavily armed starfighters in the Alliance arsenal. Two movable secondary airfoils form a cross midway between the command pod and the primary airfoil wingtip. These alter their position during flight: they extend fully to bring the starfighter's maximum concentration of firepower to bear and tuck into the primary airfoil when in cruise mode. The command pod employs a radical design, using an automatic gryoscopically stabilized suspension system to keep the pod in a fixed position. The airfoil rotates around the stabilized pod, creating a flexible firing platform while the pilot experiences none of the effects of rapid spins, twists, or turns. The primary and two secondary wingtips sport ion cannons, while the command pod features a mounted laser cannon. Other weapons include two internally mounted proton torpedo launchers and two small blaster cannons. These starfighters played a key role in the Alliance victory at the Battle of Endor.
Snowspeeder
The Incom T-47 airspeeders specially adapted to the hostile environment of ice planets like Hoth, were called snowspeeders. These small, wedge-shaped airspeeders were heavily armored and highly maneuverable, redesigned to provide air protection to Rebel bases. A forward-sitting pilot and rear-facing gunner crewed each snowspeeder, employing two forward heavy laser cannons and a rear-mounted harpoon cannon.
Corellian Corvette (Blockade Runner)
An old, multipurpose capital ship model, the Corellian Corvette still sees service throughout the Galaxy. This midsized vessel is 150 meters long and can function as a troop carrier, light escort vessel, cargo transport, or passenger liner. Its modular interior can easily be refigured to handle ant requirements. Like most Corellian-built ships, the Corvette has a fast sublight drive and a quick hyperjump calculator for fast exits into hyperspace. Because this vessel type sees a lot of duty among Corellian pirates, authorities have nicknamed it the Blockade Runner.
Mon Calamari star cruiser
Each Mon Calamari star cruiser is
handcrafted by dedicated technicians and engineers. These capital ships
are treated as works of art, not simply as weapons of war. In fact, they
were originally spaceliners that were converted into combat starships when
Mon Calamari joined the Alliance. One of the first models to be converted
was the MC80, a 1,200-meter-long cylindrical ship covered with pods, bulges,
and bumps arranged in a seemingly haphazard fashion. Mon Calamari ships
look more organic than technological, but they are considered to be among
the finest vessels traveling the space lanes. These vessels are built with
many redundent systems, making them difficult to service but extremely
reliable in combat situations.
