AT-AT (All Terrain-Armored Transport)
The four-legged combat vehicle called an All Terrain Armored Transport (AT-AT), or "Walker" serves as both a troop transport and an assualt craft. It provides highpowered support to Imperial ground forces. An Individual walker stands over 15 meters tall, has blaster-impervious armor plating, and resembles a mechanical beast as it strides across the battlefield. The movable "Head" contains the crew deck, with a pilot's station, gunner's station, and commanding officer/combat coordinater station. A walker's armament consists of 4 heavy blaster cannons, one on either side of the head and 2 under the "chin."
AT-ST (All Terrain-Scout Transport)
Modeled after the larger AT-AT, the All Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST) serves as a reconnaissance or defense vechicle. Lightweight and built for speed the "chicken" or "scout walker" runs on two metal legs. The two-man crew sits in a small, armored command pod. With its maneuverability and quickness, a scout walker provides covering fire for ground troops or defends the flanks and undersides of the AT-ATs. The seven-meter-tall AT-ST has chin- and side- mounted blaster cannons, a concussion grenade launcher, and feet claws for cutting through fixed defenses.
Speeder Bike
Small, one person repulsor land vechicles, speeder bikes move at incredible rates, making them perfect for use as scout and reconnaissance craft. Four directional steering vanes extend from the front of a speeder bike on twin aotriggers, providing a high degree of maneuverability. The pilot directs the bike with elavation and maneuver controls located in the handgrips. Two rocker-pivoted foot pads regulate speed, while controls at the forward end of the saddle are for parking, weaponry, communications, and energy recharging. Military speeder bikes, like those used by the Empire's scout troopers, have armor plating and are armed with blaster cannons.
Probe Droid
Probe droids, or probots, are designed
to perform reconnaisence missions, gathering data and transmitting it back
to their masters. As sophistacated surveillance and tracking droids, probots
have a wide variety of scientific and military applications. Tenacious
hunters and searchers, probots are equipped with an array of sensors, including
electromagnetic, motive, acoustic, seismic, and olfactory measuring devices.
Military probots typically recieve offensive and defensive weaponry. Designed
to withstand the rigors of space and hostile planetery environments, these
droids are extremely tough and durable, and have a variety of specialized
tools connected to many mechanical appendages. Most of the time the probots
are launched in a one-way pod which get the droids to their target location.
Only in certain cases are the probots recovered. Most models use repulsors
to provide locomotion which makes it easier to move on ruff terrain.
Soldiers
Stormtrooper
The Imperial shock troops who are totally loyal to the Emperor are called stormtroopers. Unlike regular Imperial soldiers, stormtroopers wear white-and-black armored spacesuits over black body gloves. They are deployed to neutralize resistance to the NEW ORDER, and placed aboard Imperial vessels to be used as first-strike forces and to make sure lower officers stay true to the Emperor's vision. Trained to obey orders, stormtroopers will rush into combat without thought for their own safety. If the Emperor issues an order, stormtroopers will drop everything else to obey it. Their armored spacesuits provide limited protection against blaster fire. The eighteen pieces that make up the outer shell create an enclosed, self-sustaining environment. The two piece body glove controls body temperature. Stormtrooper officers wear shoulder poltroons.
Snowtrooper
Snowtroopers are specialized stormtroopers that have special survival training for colder climates. Along with a powerful heating system built into the armor, they are assigned specialized eqiupment that allows them to suvive in the arctic climates alone if necessary. The equipment is carried with them on their belts or backpacks.
Scout trooper
Scout troopers are lightly armored, highly mobile stormtroopers who are usually assigned to Imperial Garrisons. They use speeder bikes to patrol perimeters, perform reconnaissance missions, and scout enemy locations. To assist them when travrling at the high speeds speeder bikes reach, scout troopers specialized helmets equipped with built-in macrobinocular viewplates and sensor arrays. These feed into computers that analyze terrain features instantaneously to help the scouts navigate at high speeds. They also map areas they explore, producing a continuous record of each mission they participate in. Scout troopers wear lightweight armor and padding over a black body glove, and carry small automatic blasters.
Sand Trooper
The sand trooper is the Empires weapon on the dessert terrain. These troopers have powerful cooling systems built into their black body gloves. They also have extra supplies for the dessert climates, such as extra water and shelters. You can identify sand troopers from their pads that they wear on their shoulders, orange means a higher rank than black.
Imperial Officer
Imperial officers are troops that went to the officer training school instead of the trooper training school. These men are taught sophisticated military tactics and how to obey and give orders. They are not as highly trained in combat as troopers but they do have some training in weapons, and hand-to-hand combat. Officers have olive colored uniforms with their insignia on their left or right breast depending on what they are an officer for the army or navy.
Imperial Honor Guard
The Imperial Royal Guard is a unit of specially selected Imperial soldiers who serve the Emperor's personal guards. Only the most promising soldiers who fall within the required size, strength, intelligence, and loyalty ranges are chosen for this duty. They are trained in the use of a wide range of weapons and unarmed combat styles, and conditioned to obey the Emperor's will and protect him with their lives. Imperial Royal Guards wear flowing red robes, helmets, and full body armor. The guards are known for their ability to stay in ready position for hours at a time without even a twitch. Also they have extra benefits that normal troopers dont, they are allowed liqour and women.
Blaster
Blasters are weapons that fire coherent
packets of intense light energy, also called bolts. Most blasters have
variable levels of intensity, from stun to killing bolts. When a blaster
discharges an energy bolt, a smeel similar to ozone fills the air. A blaster
uses power packs for energy. One power pack can have up to 40 shots, and
the chrystal used to enhance the beam has to be changed every 20 power
packs.
Imperial Navy
Imperial-Class Star Destroyer
The Imperial-class Star Destroyer is 1.6 kilometers long and bristles with offensive weaponry. Turbolasers and ion cannon batteries create wide-ranging fields of fire around the wedge, and a complement of TIE starfighters are carried within its hanger bays to add even more punch. Defensive shield generators, tractor-beam projecters, and sophistacated sensor arrays round out this capital ship's exterior emplacements. An Imperial Star Destroyer also carries drop ships, landing barges, shuttles, repair vessels, deep-space probes, an assortment of specialized droids, field artillery weapons, walkers, ground assualt vechicles, modular building units, soldiers, and Imperial stormtroopers.
Super-Class Star Destroyer
The Super-Class Star Destroyer, the newest model in the fleet, is eight kilometers long, dwarfing even the massive Imperial Star Destroyers. Though the Super Star Destroyer is approximatly five tims as powerful as its smaller predecessor, the few currently in service are not primarly used as combat starships. Instead, these vessels are used as command ships, guiding fleets and serving as headquarters from which to conduct planetary assualts and space battles. Lord Darth Vader's Executor was a Super Star Destroyer.
Lambda-Class Shuttle
Of all the space shuttles operating in the Imperial fleet, perhaps the most distinctive is the Lambda-class shuttle. The three-winged shuttle resembles an inverted Y in flight. The two lower wings fold upward when it lands. This type of shuttle carries up to twenty passengers (usually stormtroopers or high-level Imperial officials) and their gear, or the equivalant amount of material, plus the command crew (who operate the shuttle from the cockpit). Passengers and crew enter and exit the shuttle through a lower hatch which drops open when the craft has landed..
Imperial Tie Fighter
The main combat starfighter used by the Empire is the TIE fighter. Fast, manuverable, and apparently endless in number, TIE fighters are deployed from bases and capital ships, as they have niether range nor the capibility to travel great distances on their own. As short-range patrol and attack craft, TIE's serve the Imperial fleet very well. Twin ion engines provide the propulsion for these fighters, which are controlled by a singl pilot. At the height of the Empire's military buildup, when resources were plentiful and supplies were nearly unlimited, the need was felt for a deep-space starfighter that was cheap to make, quick to produce, and relatively powerful--especially in large numbers. The TIE fighter was the result. Armed with two laser cannons but lacking any sort of combat shields, TIEs were designed for use as reconnaissance craft, perimeter defense ships, and ship-to-ship combat vechicles. The distinctive hexagonal solar-panel "wings" that jut from the spherical command pod gather light and convert it into energy that powers propulsion and weapons systems.
Imperial Tie Interceptor
The TIE Interceptor like the fighter has two wings jutting out from the spherical command pod, except the Interceptor has points at the end and are curved. Because of this design the Intercepter has 4 laser cannons instead of two like the Fighter. Also it is much faster and a little bit more manuverable. But it also more expesive to make, so it is not used as much in combat.
Imperial Tie Bomber
The TIE Bomber is a combination
of the Fighter and Interceptor. With curved wings but no points it resembles
the Interceptor. And with the same weapons and equipment as the Fighter.
One obvious differnce is the second pod. It is used for holdong large amounts
of bombs and missles for more firepower. But since it is bigger and wider
it is also considerably slower than both of the other TIEs. It is primarly
used as a attack ship, but is rarely used as a defense.
